Teach us to Count the Days...

Oh goodness. Where is the time going?!? Can y'all believe it's already almost September? I'm grateful for that, but the time is flying by too quickly at times! I didn't even realize it has been almost two weeks since I last posted. The unintentional break has been nice though.

Well, there is so much I want to write about, articles I would like to post, BUT sometimes it can just all get overwhelming and so I end up not posting any! Hopefully I can do better about that though.

I was just flipping back through old posts and pictures on my other blog on Xanga. It was bringing back so many wonderful memories just from these past several years, and I found myself wishing I could go back and appreciate those wonderful times more! Although, I'm making new memories now, (which I'm sure I'll look back in a few years and think the same) I was just thinking how it's so important that we enjoy each minute of our lives! Our lives are but a vapor as it says in James 4:14 "whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." Time passes oh so quickly and it's so important we appreciate each day, each minute and use our time wisely. Before we know it we could be married, have kids, grandkids, and then be a little old lady or man in a nursing home one day! ;) Ya know!? Do we want to look back with regret wishing we would have enjoyed these years better? I know it sounds so far off right now to most of us, but it's not! You ask any elderly person and they'll tell you just how quickly life goes by. Are we enjoying each day, each minute of our lives or are we always wishing the time away hoping for something better in our future? Rejoice in the day's the Lord has given you right now! Don't waste these years always hoping and longing for new and better things in life. If you're not happy NOW than you will never be truly happy and satisfied. Jesus is our only one and true fulfillment in life and we have to learn to be completely satisfied in Him. There is a quote I really like by Ravi Zacharias which says: "Nothing brings more disappointment in life then when the thing you think will bring you the most fulfillment and joy in life falls short. Christ alone is the one true fulfillment."

Remember, that the Lord is in perfect control of your life and He is never (not even one second!) late in His promises! Trust Him, and let the Lord have complete control of your life and enjoy this very season the Lord has given you. It's a gift. Don't be ungrateful for that beautiful gift!

Anyway, I think that's all I have to say for now. :) I really didn't plan on writing any of that, but if just came out. So there it is; as is. Hopefully it made some kind of sense to you. ;)

Here is a beautiful and well done video of the song "Life Means so Much" by Chris Rice

Lyrics from Chris Rice: "Life Means So Much"

"Every day is a journal page
Every man holds a quill and ink
And there's plenty of room for writing in
All we do is believe and think

So will you compose a curse
Or will today bring the blessing
Fill the page with rhyming verse
Or some random sketching

Teach us to count the days
Teach us to make the days count
Lead us in better ways
That somehow our souls forgot
Life means so much, Life means so much

Every day is a bank account
And time is our currency
So nobody's rich, nobody's poor
We get 24 hours each
So how are you gonna spend
Will you invest, or squander
Try to get ahead
Or help someone who's under

Teach us to count the days
Teach us to make the days count
Lead us in better ways
That somehow our souls forgot
Life means so much, Life means so much

Has anybody ever lived who knew the value of a life
And don't you think giving is all
What proves the worth of yours and mine

Teach us to count the days
Teach us to make the days count
Lead us in better ways
That somehow our souls forgot
Life means so much

Every day is a gift you've been given
Make the most of the time every minute you're living"

  1. I know why you wrote that. Because it was exactly what I needed to hear!We will not find happiness in the future by changing our present circumstances. We can change everything about us and never be truly satisfied. Christ is our everything in the present and our hope for the future. Titus 2:11-14.

  2. Wow, that is so neat that the Lord let me to write that, and it was just what you needed to hear! How neat! I love how the Lord works in ways like that. :)
