Magazine Recommendations

I thought I would do a post of some of my favorite magazines I would like to recommend to you all. I was especially excited when I found a Christian magazine for young men, "Abandoned to God". There are so many Christian magazines out there for the girls, but I couldn't find any for the guys, until recently when I saw an add in one the magazines I get. I emailed the author for a sample and he quickly mailed one out to me, and I was very impressed with it, and so glad someone took the initiative and did one for the young men! Guys, I hope you will all subscribe to this one!

"Abandoned to God" was started in November 2007 when brothers Jason and Daniel Masloske were called by the the Lord to start a magazine to bless other young men. There mission: is to encourage and promote other young men to be followers and advocates of Jesus Christ, abandoning their lives to the Lord God of the Bible and serving Him with all there heart, soul, mind, and strength that God has given to a young man. We want to bless young men with the undying and unfailing truth, an opportunity to hear from and read about other young men; and to read about and do thing that are interesting to a boy or young man in Christ. The verse that we base our ministy on is 2 Timothy 1:9 which reads: 'Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.' The apostle Paul is here telling to Timothy (a young man) about the power of God, how it is He who called each of us according to His own will, and how it is His Son Jesus who has died for us and whereby we are saved. This is how we feel about this magazine, Aabandoned to God, and exactly the point which we wish to convey through the writings and material in this publication.

A one year subscription to Abandoned to God entitles you to six issues. Listed below are some suggested donations:

"The Godly Girlhood Gazette" is a magazine for young ladies, which I am always encouraged by! The editor and publisher is Ruthanna Prislovsky. The purpose of The Godly Girlhood Gazette is to glorify and magnify Christ by having a magazine for young ladies; that through their submissions, writings, and articles we can encourage and stimulate one another, that we would all be inspired to be virtuous, being prepared to be keepers at home, helpers to our mothers and fathers, serving our families, that we will be well equipped for whatever ministry God gives us, so that we may say "Yes Lord, walking in the ways of your laws, we wait for you; Your name and renown are the desires of our hearts." Isaiah 26:8

The Godly Girlhood Gazette is published as the Lord wills, in His perfect timing, at no charge and is financially supported by donations.

Ruthana asks that if you would to subscribe, please contact her at thegodlygirlhoodgazette @ gmail . com (remove spaces when emailing.)

"Fun for the Young" is a new magazine started by Ruthanna's younger sister Esther that is also run on donations only. I received a sample issue, and I know any youngsters would love it! If you would like to receive this magazine as well, please write to 1089 Upper Turtle Creek Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028 and include all names, ages, and birthdays for the kids in your home who will be reading the magazine, along with your email and phone number.

"Above Rubies" is a wonderful magazine encouraging women in their high calling as wives, mothers and homemakers. Even though it's generally for moms, I have really enjoyed it as well! This is also a magazine run on donations only. You can go to their website here to subscribe: http://aboverubies.org/

"A Lady in Waiting" is a magazine for young women like you and I, especially if you are past your high school years and are still living at home. Historically, a lady-in-waiting was the servant and close friend of royalty, specifically the queen; the goal of A Lady in Waiting is to encourage and exhort young women as they serve the King of kings.

Rebekah hopes this magazine will help meet your current needs with articles that speak to you where you are now – not just where you hope to be several years down the road. A Lady in Waiting includes articles on running a home business, basic homemaking skills, encouraging our siblings, ministry opportunities, and growing in Christ, as well as letters from “older women,” recipes, book reviews, and more.

It is Rebekah's hope that, through the pages of A Lady in Waiting, you will be reminded of why you chose to walk this path, will feel connected to others who are traveling the same road, and will be encouraged as you glorify the King.

"Virtuous Daughters" is another one of my favorites encouraging young women in their walk with the Lord as a daughter and homemaker in training. It's filled with many wonderful articles, recipes, poems and pen pal adds. The low cost $6.96 for 12 issues covers the cost of postage only. I'm sure if you can donate more, it would be greatly appreciated. :) You can request your subscription by writing to: Virtuous Daughters, 18842 Walding Road, Montgomery, TX 77356

I hope you'll enjoy and be blessed by these magazines as much I have been!

  1. Thanks for sharing these :) I was a journalism major in college, and one of my dreams was to have a magazine. I think one of the reasons I don't have that desire anymore is because there are so many wondering publications out there already and God wants me to use my gifts in other ways. I still think it would be cool though :)

  2. Thanks Michelle, this has been helpful. My brother NEEDS something like this - the Abandoned to God magazine. My Mom used to order Above Rubies, now she just looks at it online. Have you heard of No Greater Joy ministries? They're great people, living by 3 John verse 4.
You should check it out (www.nogreaterjoy.org)!

And..... I think I'll join your followers now! May God bless you. Ü

  3. Melissa: I didn't know you were a journalism major in college! Neat!

Southern Maiden: I had tried to leave a comment back on your blog, but it kept saying I couldn't unless I was a team member or something.

So I'll just copy and paste my comment in reply on here. :)
