~Parmesan Breadsticks~
Ingredients:
2 (1/4 ounce) envelopes active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water (100-110 degrees)
4 cups all-purpose flour, devided.
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 large egg
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Prep: 25 min. cook: 13min. other: 30 min.
First off, before you start cooking, you must have some enjoyable music playing playing on your radio or ipod...
And, this is the way I do my recipe book....I find a photo album I love, and place recipes in the slot where your photos would normally go. It works great, and it's so much easier trying to find a recipe this way than having to dig through a recipe box!

Okay on with the recipe for real this time!
First, you will combine your yeast and 1/2 cup warm water in a one cup glass measuring cup. Let stand 5 minutes.

Combine 2 cups flour and salt. Set aside.

Combine yeast mixture, 1 cup warm water, honey and egg in a large bowl.

Beat at medium speed with electric mixer until blended. (I beat it with my hand using a fork...it's easier and works better for me.)

Gradually add flour mixture, beating until blended.

Gradually stir in enough of remaining 2 cups flour to make a soft dough.
Grease a bowl, and set aside.
Knead dough until smooth and elastic (6-8 min.)

Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts. 15 minutes. It should almost double in size.
Turn dough into floured surface.

Roll dough into a 21-X 6 1/2 rectangle.

Cut dough crosswise into 21 (1 inch) strips. (Note: I never measure, I just do whatever looks good to me.)

Twist each strip 2 times and place on lightly greased baking sheet; cover and let rise 10 minutes free from drafts.

Combine butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and parsley flakes. Cook over medium heat until butter melts.
(Note: I was doubling the recipe so I could freeze some. So no, you don't normally use two sticks of butter!)

Brush with half of the butter mixture. (Sometimes I let them rise again for a few minutes after I brush them.)

Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush again with remaining butter mixture. Yield: 15-21 breadsticks; depending on size.)
I also made a pasta casserole with turkey meat, Parmesan, Romano, and Ricotta cheese and fresh parsley. For the veggie.... Italian style broccoli with salt, pepper, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and olive oil.

And Ta-da! The finished meal!

I had fun cooking everything, and I think everyone in my family really enjoyed it as well! It was a lovely evening so we sat on our back patio and ate outside, which makes everything taste even better! :)Ingredients:
