(Note: to those who are in the group and already received the email I sent out, I made a few changes. I re-read it today and realized some of the things I was trying to say didn't come across clearly! I re-worded some of it today, hoping it will come across better. Please bear with me as I've been extremely tired lately and not thinking or writing completely clear! :) )
Isaiah 29:13
13“ Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.
I cannot say enough how true that verse is. I am continually amazed as I keep seeing more and more Christians honoring Him with their lips, but their heart is far from the Lord. It seems many people I know are praying and quoting scripture one minute, then the next they're off to see a pg 13 or R rated movie. Instead of us as Christians being a light in darkness, we have lowered our standards to "fit in' with the world. I've seen it so much lately especially in the churches and Christian homeschool groups. Many are no different than the world.
I want to challenge each of us to be separate from the world. Do not lower your standards just because everyone else is. Most of today's churches are "watered down" and will not preach against sin, or about repentance. We have to study the Word for ourself, and not only know it, but live it. Are you representing Christ wherever you go? Could we take Jesus with us wherever we go? Are we living to please God or man? Are we 100% sold out to Christ? These are some questions to ask ourselves.
You most likely will not be popular for raising your standards high. But that's okay. We don't live to please man, but Christ.
May the Lord find us all faithful, and may He say to each of us, well done thy good and faithful servant.
I don't mean for this to demean anyone, and I am certainly not perfect in any way, but only striving to be sold out to the Lord. This is what the Lord was showing me lately, and I wanted to share it with you all hoping it will encourage us all to live our life with higher standards.
~John 8:12 "Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.' "

Go Michelle! Hold fast to the Biblical standards because it doesn't get any easier to stay off that "slippery slope"!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mrs. Dee for the encouragement! :)
